Elbow Clinic

Elbow pain is easy to underestimate until it stops you from turning a doorknob, lifting a kettle, typing, or gripping a racket. The elbow connects the shoulder to the hand, so a problem here affects everything you do with your arm. Overuse, injury, nerve irritation and stiffness are all common causes.

The Elbow Clinic at Physiovista Healthcare Network provides focused physiotherapy for tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, post-fracture stiffness, nerve problems and more. We identify what is overloading your elbow and treat the cause so the pain does not keep returning.

About Our Elbow Clinic

The elbow is a hinge joint combined with a rotating joint, allowing you to bend, straighten and turn the forearm. Tendons attach the forearm muscles to the bony points on either side of the elbow, and major nerves pass close to the joint. This makes the elbow vulnerable to tendon overload, nerve compression and post-injury stiffness.

At our elbow clinic, we assess the elbow together with the neck, shoulder, wrist and grip, because pain at the elbow often begins elsewhere in the arm. Our care is non-surgical and exercise-led, using hands-on therapy, load management, technology and education. We also provide detailed rehabilitation after elbow fractures, dislocations and surgery.

Consider visiting our Elbow Clinic if you have:

Pain on the outer or inner side of the elbow
Pain when gripping, lifting or twisting the forearm
Stiffness or a lost range of movement after injury
Tingling in the ring and little fingers
Swelling or a feeling of weakness around the elbow
Pain from repetitive work, gym training or racket sports

Structured, Step-by-Step Pathway

Our Rehab Process

Every elbow patient at Physiovista follows a structured, step-by-step pathway.

01

Thorough Assessment

We examine the elbow, wrist, shoulder and neck, test grip strength and nerve function, and look at the activities that are loading your arm, including your work set-up and sport technique.
02

Diagnosis and Education

We explain whether your pain is from tendon overload, nerve irritation, a joint problem or stiffness, and set expectations. Tendon problems in particular need patience and a plan.
03

Settling the Pain

We reduce irritation through load management, bracing or taping if useful, soft tissue treatment, and electrotherapy.
04

Rebuilding Tendon Capacity

Tendon pain responds best to progressive loading. We prescribe graded isometric, eccentric and strength exercises that make the tendon more tolerant of everyday demands.
05

Restoring Movement

For post-injury stiffness we use joint mobilisation, stretching and structured movement programmes to regain extension, flexion and forearm rotation.
06

Grip and Functional Training

We rebuild grip and forearm strength and retrain the movements of your job, sport or hobby.
07

Preventing Recurrence

We correct technique, ergonomics and equipment and give you a maintenance plan.

Technologies We Use

Alongside skilled hands-on care, we use modern physiotherapy technologies to support recovery.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy: stimulates healing in chronic tennis and golfer's elbow
Therapeutic Ultrasound: supports tissue repair and reduces pain
Laser Therapy: reduces inflammation in irritated tendons
TENS and IFT: pain relief during flare-ups
Dry Needling and Soft Tissue Release: treats tight forearm muscles
Counterforce Braces and Kinesio Taping: offload the tendon during recovery
Hand Dynamometer: measures grip strength so progress is objective
Weighted Tools and Resistance Bands: graded tendon loading
Paraffin Wax Bath and Contrast Therapy: ease stiffness

What to Expect at Your First Elbow Visit

Your first appointment lasts about 45 to 60 minutes. We ask about your work, sport and hobbies, examine your elbow, wrist, shoulder and neck, and test grip strength. Please wear a short-sleeved top and bring any scans or reports.

Self-care tips between visits: avoid repeated forceful gripping, vary your tasks through the day, keep your wrist in a neutral position when typing, and stretch your forearm gently several times a day. Do your prescribed exercises regularly, as tendons respond to consistency rather than intensity.
