Cancer Rehabilitation

A cancer diagnosis changes life, and so can its treatment. Surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy save lives, but they can also leave people with fatigue, weakness, pain, swelling, stiffness, numbness and a loss of confidence. Many people believe rest is the only answer. Research shows that safe, guided exercise and rehabilitation can reduce fatigue, improve strength and quality of life, and help people tolerate treatment.

Cancer Rehabilitation at Physiovista Healthcare Network provides compassionate, individualised support for people before, during and after cancer treatment. We work with your oncology team to help you move well, feel stronger and return to the life you want.

About Our Cancer Rehabilitation Service

Cancer rehabilitation is not about pushing hard. It is about the right activity, at the right time, in the right amount. Our therapists understand the effects of different treatments and the limits imposed by blood counts, wounds, bone health or fatigue. We adjust every session to how you feel that day.

At Physiovista, cancer rehabilitation begins with an assessment of strength, endurance, joint movement, pain, swelling, sensation, balance, nutrition, mood and daily function. We coordinate with your oncologist for medical clearance and safety limits. Our programmes support you through every phase: preparing for surgery, coping with chemotherapy or radiotherapy, recovering afterwards and living well as a survivor. We also provide caregiver guidance and emotional support through a compassionate, patient approach.

Our service may help if you are experiencing:

Persistent tiredness that rest does not relieve
Weakness or loss of muscle and fitness
Arm or leg swelling after surgery or radiotherapy
Shoulder stiffness or pain after breast surgery

Our Rehab Process

Every cancer rehabilitation patient at Physiovista follows a structured, step-by-step pathway.

01

Oncology-Aware Assessment

We review your diagnosis, treatment stage, blood reports and precautions, and assess strength, fatigue, movement, swelling and function. We seek your oncologist's guidance on safety limits.
02

Personal Goals and Safety Plan

Goals may include walking to the park, climbing stairs, returning to work or reducing swelling. We outline warning signs and activity limits clearly.
03

Energy Management and Gentle Activity

We start where you are, with short walks, light strengthening and breathing exercises, and teach pacing and energy conservation.
04

Strength and Fitness Rebuilding

Progressive resistance and aerobic activity restore muscle, stamina and confidence while respecting your treatment schedule.
05

Swelling and Scar Management

For lymphoedema we provide education, skin care guidance, compression, manual lymphatic drainage, exercise and bandaging, and scar release for tight tissue.
06

Pain, Neuropathy and Balance Care

We use gentle therapy, desensitisation, balance exercise and safe movement advice to reduce symptoms and prevent falls.
07

Survivorship and Long-Term Wellness

We build a home programme and review it regularly, supporting healthy activity, weight and bone health after treatment ends.

Technologies We Use

Alongside skilled hands-on care, we use specialised oncology physiotherapy technologies and equipment to support recovery.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Compression Bandaging: manage lymphoedema
