Vertigo, Dizziness and Balance Treatment at Physiovista

Vestibular Rehabilitation

The room spins when you turn in bed. You feel unsteady in a crowd or a supermarket. You are afraid to walk without holding on to something. Dizziness and vertigo are frightening, and they limit work, driving and independence. The good news is that many causes are highly treatable, often within a few sessions.

Vestibular Rehabilitation at Physiovista Healthcare Network is a specialised physiotherapy service for people with dizziness, vertigo and balance disorders. We find the cause of your symptoms and use proven techniques and exercises to settle the spinning, improve stability and restore your confidence.

About Our Vestibular Rehabilitation Service

Balance depends on three systems working together: the inner ear (vestibular system), vision and the sensation from joints and muscles, all coordinated by the brain. When the inner ear is affected, the brain receives conflicting information, causing dizziness, spinning, nausea or unsteadiness.

At our vestibular rehabilitation service, we begin with a careful history and a specialised examination of eye movements, positional tests, balance and gait. This helps distinguish inner-ear causes from other causes. For the most common cause, BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), a short repositioning manoeuvre can often resolve symptoms in one or two visits. For other causes, a customised programme of gaze stabilisation, habituation and balance exercises helps the brain compensate. If your symptoms suggest a condition needing medical investigation, we refer you promptly to an ENT specialist or neurologist.

Structured, Step-by-Step Pathway

Our Rehab Process

Every vestibular rehabilitation patient at Physiovista follows a structured, step-by-step pathway.

01

Detailed History and Screening

We ask about triggers, duration, hearing, headaches, medication and recent illness or injury. We screen for warning signs of stroke or other conditions needing urgent medical care.
02

Vestibular and Balance Examination

Tests include eye movement assessment, head impulse tests, positional tests such as Dix-Hallpike and roll tests, balance and gait testing.
03

Diagnosis and Explanation

We explain what is happening in your inner ear and brain. Understanding the cause reduces fear, which itself reduces dizziness.
04

Canal Repositioning for BPPV

If the test confirms BPPV, we perform the appropriate manoeuvre, such as Epley or Semont. Most patients feel major improvement within one to three sessions.
05

Gaze Stabilisation and Habituation Exercises

For other causes, specific head and eye exercises train the brain to adapt and reduce dizziness with movement.
06

Balance and Gait Training

Progressive balance exercises on different surfaces and with changing vision and head movements improve stability.
07

Fall Prevention and Return to Activities

We recommend home safety measures, teach safe movement strategies and help you return to driving, work and exercise.

Technologies We Use

Alongside skilled hands-on care, we use specialised vestibular diagnostic and rehabilitation technologies.

Video Frenzel Goggles or Videonystagmography (VNG): observe eye movements for accurate diagnosis
Canalith Repositioning Equipment and Tilt Tables: safe positioning for manoeuvres
Computerised Dynamic Posturography: measures balance objectively
Optokinetic Stimulation and Visual Motion Tools: treat visual sensitivity
Balance Platforms and Foam Surfaces: progressive balance training
Virtual Reality-Based Balance Training: controlled challenge for the brain
Gaze Stabilisation Targets and Digital Exercise Apps: home exercise support
Gait and Fall-Risk Assessment Tools: identify risk early

Why Choose Physiovista for Vestibular Care?

Accurate testing to identify the cause of dizziness
Quick, effective treatment for BPPV
Individualised exercise programmes for other vestibular problems
Clear referral pathway to ENT and neurology when needed
Fall-prevention expertise for older adults

What to Expect at Your First Vestibular Visit

Your first appointment takes about 45 to 60 minutes. We may ask you to wear video goggles and perform head and eye movements that can briefly provoke dizziness. Please arrange for someone to accompany you, avoid heavy meals beforehand, and bring your medication list and any hearing, ENT or MRI reports.

Self-care tips: after a repositioning manoeuvre, follow our advice about head position, move slowly when changing posture, keep your home well lit, remove trip hazards, stay hydrated and continue your exercises daily, since the brain needs repetition to adapt.
