Vestibular Rehabilitation
The room spins when you turn in bed. You feel unsteady in a crowd or a supermarket. You are afraid to walk without holding on to something. Dizziness and vertigo are frightening, and they limit work, driving and independence. The good news is that many causes are highly treatable, often within a few sessions.
Vestibular Rehabilitation at Physiovista Healthcare Network is a specialised physiotherapy service for people with dizziness, vertigo and balance disorders. We find the cause of your symptoms and use proven techniques and exercises to settle the spinning, improve stability and restore your confidence.
About Our Vestibular Rehabilitation Service
Balance depends on three systems working together: the inner ear (vestibular system), vision and the sensation from joints and muscles, all coordinated by the brain. When the inner ear is affected, the brain receives conflicting information, causing dizziness, spinning, nausea or unsteadiness.
At our vestibular rehabilitation service, we begin with a careful history and a specialised examination of eye movements, positional tests, balance and gait. This helps distinguish inner-ear causes from other causes. For the most common cause, BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), a short repositioning manoeuvre can often resolve symptoms in one or two visits. For other causes, a customised programme of gaze stabilisation, habituation and balance exercises helps the brain compensate. If your symptoms suggest a condition needing medical investigation, we refer you promptly to an ENT specialist or neurologist.

Why Choose Physiovista for Vestibular Care?
What to Expect at Your First Vestibular Visit
Your first appointment takes about 45 to 60 minutes. We may ask you to wear video goggles and perform head and eye movements that can briefly provoke dizziness. Please arrange for someone to accompany you, avoid heavy meals beforehand, and bring your medication list and any hearing, ENT or MRI reports.
Self-care tips: after a repositioning manoeuvre, follow our advice about head position, move slowly when changing posture, keep your home well lit, remove trip hazards, stay hydrated and continue your exercises daily, since the brain needs repetition to adapt.
Frequently Asked Questions
BPPV happens when tiny crystals in the inner ear move into the wrong place, causing short bursts of spinning with head movements. It is usually treated successfully with a repositioning manoeuvre, though it can return.
BPPV often resolves in one to three sessions. Other conditions need a longer programme of exercises over several weeks.
Most dizziness has a treatable inner-ear or neck cause. But sudden severe dizziness with weakness, slurred speech, double vision, severe headache or loss of consciousness is an emergency.
Mild dizziness during exercises is expected and is how the brain learns. We adjust the dose so it is manageable.
Yes. Neck stiffness and injury can cause a sense of unsteadiness. We assess the neck as part of your examination.
Not while you have active spinning or severe dizziness. We will advise when it is safe to resume driving.
Yes. It treats dizziness, visual and balance problems after head injury, using a graded programme.
Yes. Worry about falling or about another episode of vertigo can increase dizziness and make people avoid movement, which slows recovery. Education, graded exposure and exercises help break the cycle, and we guide you through it.
